All or nothing is about cycles of intensity & avoidance. All or nothing approaches to fat loss overlook the key to success: consistent execution of the basics. We love dramatic approaches that create dramatic results, even if they aren't sustainable. Here's the thing: it's not sexy, it's not glamorous and it's not exciting but it is both effective and sustainable: know your basics and ruthlessly pursue consistency. In today's episode we're talking about what it looks like when we skip the basics and pursue intensity and how to create a much more effective approach.

The other day, I posted on Instagram that more often than not, it's our internal conditions that need to change, not our external ones. We're so quick to place blame on our external circumstances: we don't have enough time, we don't have enough money. Our work schedule is crazy. We don't have enough support. However, when you realize that your lack of progress & lack of consistency are more about your internal conditions than your external ones, you're in a major place of power.
Your internal conditions include your thoughts, words, attitude & perspective, to name a few. In today's episode, we're diving into the how of this. How, exactly, do we do this work to change our internal conditions? I've got you covered! Tune in!

What is CBD? Does it get you high? Can it get you high? CBD refers to cannabidiol and is a non-psychoactive component of cannabis. Not only does CBD not make you feel "high", it actually can block the "high" triggered by the psycho-active component, THC.
The reason we're looking at CBD is due to it's anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety and endocrine-supporting properties.
We'll talk about what CBD is, what it isn't, how it works, the body systems it influences and how it can be used.

Today's episode is a hybrid - part book club episode, part manifesto on your ability, independent of all circumstances, to create change.
I read an amazing book called You Are The Placebo and it came to mind immediately when I got a couple of critical comments about episode 490 of the podcast. That episode garnered over 400 emails, text messages, direct messages & social media comments from people who found it helpful and inspiring. It also garnered two critical comments from listeners. Both felt they needed to inform me that depression isn't a choice. Interestingly, I agree and never said it was. I do, however, believe that in every circumstance, we DO have power to create change.
That is what we are diving into, especially the science behind our thoughts, in today's episode. This is, without question, one of my favorite recent episodes! Don't miss it!
Getting out of debt changed my life. I had no idea that working towards a financial goal would have such a profound impact on health, motivation and fitness, but it did. Some of the biggest lessons I've learned in life came from getting out of debt.
The same is true of working out. Building a habit of going to the gym and embracing fitness has taught me lessons about hard work, consistency and stepping out of my comfort zone. Many of these lessons have come directly from CrossFit and while they were learned in the gym, they've changed my life outside of the gym!
Change can be hard. It can be frustrating. It can feel lonely. For much of my life I felt exhausted by work I hadn't even yet done...I felt like the road ahead of me was impossible. I have no doubt that those feelings contributed to depression & isolation.
I could absolutely still choose that perspective. I could choose to upset myself by fixating on what I don't yet have, on how far I have to go, on the gap between where I am and where I want to be and the work I'll have to do to change.
Fortunately, I choose a dramatically different perspective and my new perspective makes change dramatically easier and prevents me from experiencing depressive symptoms.
